ITA — Zurigo /dzuriˈgo/ [zu-ri-go] s.m. – 1.

– 1. Would it be possible to give a precise, detailed, articulate and comprehensive definition of a Swiss city without faltering over the well-known accuracy exercised by the population of Switzerland, aka the Swiss? This can be done only by providing a lengthy and close examination of Zürich’s historical and political events, the distinctive features of its economy and business, its social texture, its artistic circles and figures that have made this city famous. This examination, however, would require so much time that those providing it and those reading it would arrive late at every meeting. 2. Zürich is the capital of the homonymous canton and the largest city of Switzerland. Surrounded by an Alpine landscape, looking onto the lake of the same name, Z. is a city of art and fashion, of peaceful cafés and an intense nightlife. This is all the reader needs to know. 3. Life is good in Zürich. The city offers a thousand opportunities for encounters, knowledge and learning. This energy triggers creativity, which flourishes in this atmosphere. SUPERLEGGERO was born in Zürich on a winter’s day, when the cold weather gets to your head, or maybe on a windy spring day, when scarves wave like flags around the shores of the lake.

On the 4th of August 1972, an official sponsoring agreement was signed between ALFREDO GIOS (Bici Gios Torino) and GIORGIO PERFETTI owner of the world famous chewing-gum brand «Brooklyn-la Gomma del Ponte» giving birth for 5 years (1973-1977) to one of the most successful professional cycling teams ever existed: the «Brooklyn» team. The following year, Brooklyn decided to create and sponsor a new top level professional cycling team and considering the excellent personal and business relationship existing between ALFREDO GIOS and GIORGIO PERFETTI, the company GIOS was called to be the technical supplier delivering the racing bicycles to the whole team. Based on Italy the team had a mixed roster of Italians, like PANIZZA, ROTA, PASSUELLO, TURRINI and Belgians like DE MUYNCK, SERCU or DE WITTE. mardi à Lausanne

superleggero_a_travers_lausanne_rue_du_petit_chene

On the way back from Geneva, I stopped in Lausanne to drink a good beer and meet a good friend. I love Lausanne, small city with a very “chic” taste of frenchness and not at all swissness. For me Lausanne is not only ECAL or TAS, I remember Lausanne for the « À travers Lausanne » a Contre le Montre, the tuesday after the Tour de France. The race was like a “red carpet” for the winner of the Tour. The depart was in Quai d’Ouchy and the arrivee, after 4km, in Sauvablin but the Rue du Petit-Chêne was a breakheart hill, 200m at 18% in pavé. The race was won by FAUSTO COPPI, 4 times by EDDY MERCKX, POULIDOR, 5 times by ZOETEMELK and in 1998 after a fantastic Tour, by MARCO PANTANI.
